A free or Pro Canva account
Your logo files (PNG recommended)
Your brand colors (or the colors you want to use going forward)
Creating a consistent look for your small business doesn’t require a designer — you just need a simple brand kit. Canva makes it easy to store your fonts, colors, and logos so every design looks polished and on-brand.
This quick tutorial walks you through setting up your Canva Brand Kit from scratch.
Step 1: Log into Canva and Visit Your Brand Kit
- Go to canva.com
- On the left sidebar, click Brand
- Select Brand Kit
- If you’re using the free version, you’ll see basic options. Canva Pro unlocks more features, but the free kit is still incredibly useful.
Step 2: Upload Your Logos
- Under Brand Logos, click Upload
- Upload:
- Your main logo
- A simplified logo (if you have one)
- A white/black version (optional but helpful)
Pro Tip: Upload a PNG with a transparent background for best results.
Step 3: Add Your Brand Colors
Under Brand Colors, click Add New and enter:
- Your primary brand color
- 1–2 secondary colors
- A neutral color (white, black, gray, beige, etc.)
If you don’t have brand colors yet, use Canva’s color palette generator at canva.com/colors — or start by choosing colors that match your logo.
Step 4: Choose Your Brand Fonts
Under Brand Fonts, choose:
- Heading font (bold, strong)
- Subheading font (medium weight, clean)
- Body font (simple, easy to read)
Keep it to two fonts max to look polished and professional.
Step 5: Try Out Your Brand Kit in a Design
- Create a new design (Instagram post, flyer, etc.)
- Your brand colors and fonts will appear in the left sidebar
- Click them to instantly apply your brand identity to any template
This is where the magic happens — consistency becomes effortless.
Step 6: Save and Reuse
Your Brand Kit automatically applies across all future designs.
Now your social posts, flyers, business cards, and website graphics look cohesive without needing a designer.
