Marker 7 costal grill

A Coastal Escape in Athens

Nestled in the heart of the Five Points neighborhood of Athens, Georgia, Marker 7 Coastal Grill brings the flavors of the Gulf and Georgia coast to an elegant yet relaxed setting. Located at 1195 S Milledge Ave, Athens, GA 30605, this seafood restaurant is housed in a historic home, giving it both charm and character.
The restaurant is the vision of local restaurateur Chris Lloyd, who grew up in the Tampa Bay area and wanted to recreate that seaside dining vibe in Athens.

Atmosphere & Vibe

From the moment you walk in, Marker 7’s setting sets it apart: a converted historic home in Five Points, a lovely deck/patio for outdoor dining, and plenty of indoor space that balances casual and elevated. The visuals are wood-trimmed walls, warm lighting, and seafood bar accents make it especially appealing from a design-and-branding standpoint.
Parking is available across the street at Fire Station #3, which is a helpful note for visitors.

What to Order & Why It Stands Out

Marker 7 shines because of its fresh, coastal-inspired seafood menu. Some highlights:

  • Their oysters are from the Gulf of Mexico and the shrimp come from the Georgia coast—so the sourcing is local/regional and authentic.
  • Appetizers such as grouper nuggets, fried coconut shrimp with habanero-mango purée, and ahi tuna bruschettastand out for creativity and flavor.
  • Main-course features like the “Fresh Catch of the Day,” po’boy oyster sandwiches, and shrimp & grits bring comfort and quality together. Reviews mention that “the best fried oysters I’ve had in 20 years” were at Marker 7.
